Caterpillars, both natural and mechanical, Eric Carles 'Very Hungry Caterpillar', combine to inspire this piece. Originally constructed in wood as a sun bed it became obvious that the piece had to be upholstered to become a true caterpillar.
Caterpillars mimic to hide or take on the most vibrant colours in nature to advertise danger, or to startle. They can use the toxins found in plants to make themselves completely unsavoury.
